One of the prestige landmarks in Hanoi is the “Temple of Literature”.
Originally built during the 11th century by king Ly Thanh Tong and reconstructed between 13th and 15th centuries by the Tran Kings, it is an academy dedicated to the Chinese philosopher Confucius. It is divided into 5 separate courtyards and spans over 50000sqm.
Initially the academy only accepted the elite and royal family members before opening its doors to brighter students from general public in 1442.
During the graduation season you can witness many students in their graduation gowns and traditional Ao Dai taking photos and getting their blessings.
